Great hiking, camping, swimming and historic location where the last wolf in CT was killed by General Israel Putnam, very nearby. The hike to the Wolf Den is a short walk, quite rocky, but an easy hike for children from the entrance and a historic location - highly recommended. The Indian Chair is a little further, for the more ambitious.
This gem has lots of trails and is a great place to take a stroll, main trails are flat and well groomed others a little more strenuous.
Pronounced "Mash-mucket", this small state park offers lake swimming, hiking trails, picnic areas and bath house.
